New Beginnings

Today, I made a commitment to myself to continue on my weight loss and health journey by incorporating intermittent fasting into my lifestyle. Like many others, I have struggled with unhealthy eating habits, and I have come to recognize when I need to make adjustments to counteract these habits. Although I love to eat, I have lost sight of the true purpose of food – to nourish our bodies.

As someone who aspires to become a health nutritionist, it is my responsibility to practice what I will be preaching. With that in mind, I have regained my focus and have a newfound energy and motivation to reach my goals. I have chosen to incorporate intermittent fasting into my routine because it does not require me to count calories, something that I absolutely despise.

In addition to intermittent fasting, I have also started heart rate training in hopes of resetting my heart rate. This means training to have a lower heart rate while working out, rather than a high one, as my new normal. I am excited to see the results of this training, especially as I start preparing for the Army Ten Miler.

This week, my daily routine has been slightly disrupted as my school is undergoing some maintenance and we have been conducting virtual learning from home. Despite this change, I have been able to fully embrace and enjoy it. While there are many things going on in my life right now, it can sometimes feel overwhelming. However, I truly believe that everything is falling into place as it should – and I am grateful for that.

Moving is a stressful process, and it can be hard to see the positive side of things sometimes. However, as I near the end of my journey here at the Sergeants Major Academy, I am filled with anticipation and excitement to be reunited with my family on the East Coast. I am grateful for the lessons and experiences I have gained during my time here, and I look forward to the next chapter of my life.

I share my story not to boast, but to inspire and motivate others who may be struggling on their own health and wellness journeys. It is never too late to make positive changes and take control of our lives. By recognizing our unhealthy habits and making intentional choices to counteract them, we can achieve our goals and become the best versions of ourselves.

Intermittent fasting and heart rate training are just two tools that I am using in my journey, but there are many other methods and strategies that can benefit each individual differently. It is important to find what works best for you and to approach your journey with patience and persistence. Remember, progress is not linear, and there will be ups and downs, but every small step forward is worth celebrating.

As we navigate through this unpredictable and often challenging journey called life, let us remember to prioritize our health and well-being. Let us fuel our bodies with nourishing food, move every day, and take care of our mental and emotional health. We owe it to ourselves to live our best lives, and with determination and dedication, we can make it happen. So let us all commit to making positive changes and continue on this journey towards a healthier, happier, and more fulfilling life. Let this be our daily mantra – progress, not perfection.
